down here in this lesser world she’s proud

a Queen to whom we give the name of Science

she bathes within a constant stream of light

step by step advancing firm and sure

glorious as the fire’s refining flame

she brings to nothingness all that is false

and proves the worth of all existent things

upholding them in their essential rights

aught that in its principle is false

courageously she crushes underfoot

and pays no heed to threats nor calumnies

o Science hurry then to make new strides

armed with fact unarguable and truth

and render all the universe bright and shining
