Battle
for Music
Incompetent
management and inartistic direction have brought the London Philharmonic to
ruin at the start of the war. The players stick it out, book tours, find
friends and make a go of it.
This is naturally
of the greatest interest at every point and every seam of the story, which is a
true one (the orchestra appear as themselves and give concert performances of
great works, Lambert, Boult and Sargent conducting). J.B. Priestley lends a
hand.
