How to Murder a Millionaire

A very funny idea gives you the threatened housewife hiding amongst the detritus of Los Angeles society. This becomes a shriek as you see more clearly what the city is really like. It’s at least as honest a representation of Los Angeles as Herbert Ross’s Max Dugan Returns, Mel Brooks’ Life Stinks, or John Schlesinger’s Eye for an Eye. No film has ever captured the sense of a marketplace of horrors that you can find in Los Angeles without too much effort, but this film comes as close as any.
