Ponting’s film record of the last Scott expedition,
supplemented with photographs and artwork.
By great good fortune,
Scott had brought along one of the best photographers, able to give original
views that are quite authentic and therefore surprising in the variety of
aspect he records and the beauty of the place, all quite unexpected in the
circumstances.
Scott’s own
photographs toward the Pole are more analytical, geological and in that way
descriptive by comparison.
Vice-Admiral
Evans, second-in-command, introduces the film, which Ponting narrates with
musical accompaniment.
