Panic

Quite aside from the opening scene, in which “a plane full of frightened passengers goes crashing into a medium-sized skyscraper”, Panic is made of choice images.

The hijacker appears on the cabin screen to tell another group of passengers, “this plane is mine”, or words to that effect. He is on the ground, the comparison is to the great line in The Brink’s Job.

A SWAT team is dispatched to the hijacker’s home, he destroys them by remote control as well, not unlike the battle in Billion Dollar Brain.

The control apparatus is disconnected by crawling under the cabin (Strangers on a Train), the scene is constructed to evoke the dismantling of HAL in 2001: A Space Odyssey, the hijacker holds a video camera up to broadcast his scarred face and milky eye.
