Jewel robbers lam out of Montreal, heading for the border. One cracks up (Le Salaire de la peur) and stays at the motel.

The other comes looking for him.

The jewels are in a Raggedy Ann (The Night of the Hunter).

The ending reveals the powerful analysis all along, a nice young couple purloin the jewels, the police arrive.

The princess’s grandfather killed Rasputin, “but then there was Stalin, things always go from bad to worse.”
