Harvard students
find a bum living in the basement. His earthy wisdom puts them to shame, and
when he dies, they eulogize him with passages from Leaves of Grass.
Opie Taylor once
fell under the spell of a tramp, till his father Andy sent the old bum out of
town.
For some reason,
this version of the story is photographed by Sven Nykvist. Impeccably as ever,
of course.
Robert Frost came
to the conclusion that Harvard “wasn’t for me,” although E.E.
Cummings made a go of it, and T.S. Eliot contributed poetry to the Harvard
Advocate.
