Nowhere to Run
In the Millard
Sheets country, Shane goes back again to whatever it was before, a
matter-of-fact spectacle of the Old West, clothed here in modern garb so you
recognize some of the principals. The peculiar tinge of Postmodernism adds a
wispy melancholy that seems apt, and for the rest it’s a Republic or
Monogram or Lone Star feature, plain as day. Widow (Rosanna Arquette) with
kids, a monstrous land developer (Joss Ackland) with a henchman and a crooked
sheriff. Against all this a lawbreaker (Jean-Claude Van Damme).
