Gladiator School
Police Story

A very adroit film, compounded of Wambaugh-style alchemy and an adumbration of the way things work in big-city law enforcement. The subtle construction shows the influence of Pollack’s Jeremiah Johnson, for example, with the functional editing operating as discrete shots each registering a single gesture or emotion or situation, so that “every picture is worth a thousand words” and no time is wasted.
