The Four Deuces

The peculiar charm of this is its ruthless tale of gangland rivalry tempered by an elegiac strain (not too far from The Big Knife), and spiced with superimposed titles in the manner of Chester Gould, endowing the whole film with a reflectiveness that makes a worthy contribution to the period.
