The Pacific War,
looked at through a strange perspective as past and present at once, a
dislodged surrealism presenting the combatants in the story of a sailor killed
aboard the Arizona.
The colonial
racket is finishing up, a couple of the boys still want to play, one is aced
out, the other goes after it all.
The title is
Honolulu’s Casbah, the style is an absolute precursor of Freeman’s Hawaii
Five-O, all filmed on location, screenplay by Steve Fisher.
“Amusing bits don’t
make it hang together,” says Halliwell’s Film Guide, so presumably it
hangs separately.
