The Law

If so be it, the way one’s used to,

all is well: that way one knows.

If it be otherwise, you have a wonder.

 

Therefore bethink:

that it be the same always,

that itself’s a wonder,

that you cannot grasp at all:

that there is a law,

which things obey,

as you your masters,

who things command,

as you your master:

You should see this as a wonder!

That one rebels is banal self-evidence.
