Seascape

The sonorous ocean
Quivers under the eye
Of the sad moon in the sky
And quivers in its motion,

As a bolt of lightning
Brutal and sinister
Splits the sky of bistre
With a long zigzag brightening,

And as each wave,
In convulsive leaps,
Along the reefs
Comes, goes, shines and proclaims,

And as in the sky,
Where the hurricane wanders,
Bellows the thunder
Formidably.
